RE: Calgary, Alberta

Wow, what can I say. We are one of the youngest major cities in Canada right on the edge of the rockies. We have mountains a few miles to the west. prairies to the east and mountains and forests and lakes to the north. Yes we have just past the million people mark for population. Lots to do and see if you are into outdoors stuff. Banff, Kananaskis, within an hour or so will keep you busy. Come the second week of July for the Calgary Stampede. Travel north to Edmonton, Jasper and go even further if you wish. We go just south to Glacier National park in Montana if you want the best scenery without the modernization. Lots of camping nearby but not much right in town. Do some Google searching and you will find pages of info. If anything specific for questions send me a pm.

RE: Boeing tour

Stay at the Lake Pleasant RV Park in Bothell Washington. Really nice and quiet spot and only 10 miles or so out of Everett where Boeing is. They do a nice tour as well. We were there a couple of years back.

RE: Glacier National Park Recommendations

Hungry horse has a couple RV parks and is only a few minutes outside the park. We go every year and have stayed at several but the last couple of years we have stayed at Mountain Meadow. It is a nice spot and clean and friendly. Sites are a bit off the highway so a bit quieter than some.

RE: Camp Fire In A Can / Propane Version

We use ours quite a bit. Great when we have a fireban or go to a place with no fires. It also is good if it is raining out and you can still sit under the awning around the fire. Just make sure you don't have too big of blaze. I like the fact I have the quick connect on the trailer and can run it right into the main line. I have also been known to use it at home in the summer on my deck for a little ambiance instead if the big firepit.

RE: Seattle Campsite

Try Lake Pleasant RV park in Bothell Wash. Real nice place and nice sites. Seayed there a couple years ago and will go back there next visit. There was some big units when we were there so not to worry about size.

RE: How good is the Tornado Tank System?

I installed one this past spring and works great. Use it each time we dump which was about every second weekend and 3 weeks of holidays. I seem to notice it runs cleaner looking through drain much quicker than when we used to rinse from the top. I have about the same size tank as well. Would recommend to do. Just allow a mornings work if you are going to do yourself. Especially if you have to remove the enclosed underbell.

RE: Help using black tank rinser

If it is a regular hose just carry a spare 1/2 or 5/8 lawn fitting. If it is one of those smnaller rubber hoses I made a smnall one that works. Go to the compressor area of home depot etc. and get a connector that is 3/8 and 1/2 inch at other end. Clamp it on to a piece of hose then keep a spare clamp for clamping to the cut piece of hose. On the 1/2" home piece just put a regular fitting and voila. I made one for the in laws as well and he says he needs it all the time. Where we live they cut them off so the atv guys don't wash their unti. This tends to keep them away.

RE: Spree 324bhs front bedroom window

We have the previous version (Outdoorsmen) from KZ and have the same design. The first time we opened the door put a big gouge in the door from hitting the window edge. I think the engineer didn't try the door before they put it out. We just either keep the window open or close it and open the door for flow.

RE: Moving to Calgary - should i bring my boat?

Bring the boat. I thought the same years ago moving here from Manitoba. Yes there are not as many lakes but if you keep in touch with some of us on the board and do some exploring there is some great fishing in the southern half of the province.
For fishing info go to the following sites and we will help you.

for info.

RE: when replacing roof vents

Used it on the complete roof on my previous class c. Did around the edges, vents and anywhere else there was normally sealant. Worked great. No leaks and you will probably never need to touch them again. This is a one time usage product.

RE: Where to buy RV accessories in Canada

RV stuff always almost always more up north. Sometimes not so be sure to check what you are buying. UPS is the challenge for shipping from the U.S. as they charge a brokerage fee. If you are buying smaller stuff see if they will ship USPS postal. Then it is cheaper and no extra fees. I have bought many rv items and ebay stuff and had shipped
by them. Takes a bit longer but if not in a hurry costs stay low. The other option is to go on a holiday south of the border and take your wish list and shop while you are there.

RE: Travelling with food for personal use from Canada

Just so you know it is actually worse when you head down to the U.S. from Canada. Make sure you watch what you bring back. Where we cross into Montana U.S. customs always has a big barrel full of confiscated food.
Here is a link as to what you can bring up here.

RE: Stinky mattress topper...uugghh!!

This is normal for foam. It is just all the toxic chemicals settling out. It will go away soon if you leave it open for a few days.
In my business it is a common complaint. Not to worry other than annoying.

RE: Loud water pump

I posted this about a month ago. Here is a copy.
I had the same issue and did a search for noisy water pump and there is lots to read. You can also buy a kit at the rv stores to quiet them. I did mine earlier this week and what a difference. Put a foam pad under your pump, make sure no hoses touch the sides as I turned mine sideways so it is not close to any walls. Buy 6 feet or more of clear rubber reinforced hose (Home Depot) and cut in to 3 foot lengths. With the proper connectors loop the hoses with 2 loops each and hook them from your pump to the original hoses. Voila quiet pump. You can just hear mine humming close by and hardly hear it at the far end of the trailer. Easy fix and only about 15 bucks cost.

RE: Champion Generators...again

I take it you saw the one at Crappy tire. I was in the store yesterday and saw it there. I bought one last year in Montana before they were up here last year for only 299. The Crappy tire one is pretty much the same. Don't be afraid to check out the one at Costco. If I remember right it was 349 last time I saw it. Don't worry about sound level unless you or your neighbours are on top of you. I had a Kipor before which is similar sound to Honda. It is louder at eco mode but rev it up and not much difference to the Champion. We use ours all the time and love it. We can run pretty much anything at any time.

RE: 3/4 ton truck drivers....humor me :)

Just did a holiday trip last month from Calgary to Washington. On the way out our worst area was 40-50 mph. This was the first trip with the new 3/4 ton Silverado. Kept the speed up and hardly could tell other than the wind noise it was blowing head on, and some from the side when the road curved. I have done the same trip several times with my old half ton and was blown all over the place. We appreciated the bigger truck but still made it but slower with the old f150. Lesson learned with over 6000 lb trailer the 3/4 ton is a way better towing machine.

Tornado tank sprayer first trip

There have been a couple postings lately regarding the 2 types of black tank sprayers. I installed the tornado model and just got back today from the first time out. Must say it worked great and was a lot easier than running a hose under the trailer etc. Wife appreciated not having to stuff the spray rotor wand down the hole. I would recommend this to anyone thinking about it. The forty some odd bucks plus a morning to install definitely worth it.
